INSTALLATION
------------

This program is compatible with all EPOC32 machines, like the S5 and
Geofox.

1. Make sure "Show system folder" is selected in your system prefs.

2. Create the folder "System\Apps\CodeCheck" on any drive. Now copy the
   following files into this folder:

        CodeCheck.aif
        CodeCheck.app

The CodeCheck icon will now appear on your Extras bar.

Use the Options screen to change between using the program to check VAT
registration codes, and using it to check credit card numbers.

CHECKING VAT REGISTRATION CODES
-------------------------------

Have you ever received an invoice from your electrician, only to find that
he has charged you a hefty 17.5% in VAT? Or are you worried that a plumbers
bill scrawled on the back of a cigarette packet might not be genuine?

If so, then this could put your mind at ease...

All companies who are registered for VAT are required by law to supply
their VAT registration code on all bills, receipts and invoices. CodeCheck
can test these VAT codes to see whether or not they are valid - and if you
ever get a bill with an invalid code on it then you will instantly know
that that person is *not* registered to charge VAT, and that they are
breaking the law by trying to make you pay VAT for their services.

So, by using this program, you can make sure that nobody will ever try to
charge you for VAT when they are not legally registered to do so!

To check a VAT registration code, simply type the number into the box and
press the return key. A message will instantly appear telling you whether
or not that code is valid.

CHECKING CREDIT CARD NUMBERS
----------------------------

This could be essential for anybody who runs a small business, and needs to
do things like taking credit card orders over the phone.

Whenever anybody gives you their credit card number, you can quickly enter
it into CodeCheck to test whether or not the number that they have given
you is genuine - useful not only for protecting yourself against credit
card fraud, but also for confirming that your customer hasn't accidentally
read their number out wrongly. CodeCheck will not only test whether or not
their credit card number is valid, but will also tell you what kind of
credit card the number belongs to (eg. Visa, Mastercard, etc).

Checking a credit card number is very simple, all you have to do is type
the number into the box and press the return key. A message will instantly
appear telling you whether the number is valid, and if so what kind of
credit card it belongs to.

Note though that CodeCheck only checks the validity of the number. It
doesn't test whether or not that persons account actually exists, or
whether their credit limit is big enough to cover the order - you will
still need to use a credit referral agency to do that!
